This is now Gotye's 4th week at the top of the UK charts. It first became a number one on 12th February 2012 and was only knocked off for one week by DJ Fresh featuring Rita Ora with "Hot Right Now".

This week Gotye spoke to the BBC and explained how he was so close to not even finishing the record. "It was challenging to finish," said Goyte. "I hit a brick wall after I hit the first chorus, and it took me a few weeks to decide if I should write the second verse from a female perspective".

Born in Belgium, Gotye moved to Australia with his parents when he was just two years old. Not knowing much of the English language, Gotye and his mum used to watch Sesame Street and Play School, which helped them both learn the native Australian language.
