The first proper weekend of the new year and we were are at Hylands House in Chelmsford for John & Jayne’s UK wedding reception.
We’ve done quite a few gigs for these guys before including John & Jayne’s engagement party at the beginning of last year at Channels in Chelmsford.
This was the first time we had DJ’ed at Hylands House as the only other time we had been here was for V Festival in the past.
While the main building is huge and has lots of rooms for people to use and mingle in, the DJ’s usually setup in the lobby area just inside the door. Once all the guests had arrived, the main door was locked so the lobby area became the dance floor area.
John & Jayne got married in Mexico so this was their UK reception which was fairly easy going and didn’t end up doing their first dance till nearly 10pm.
Like I said, we have done a few gigs for this crowd before so we saw lots of faces we knew and also had a lot of the same requests coming in which went down a treat.
We made our way through most genres but it was the 90s dance and hip hop that went down the best on the evening.
